Position Summary:
A group focusing in Drug Discovery within the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at University at Buffalo is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist with strong expertise in the use of animals in behavioral animal models, and understanding of molecular neuropharmacology and signaling as apply to small molecules. Research will focus on how novel compounds with therapeutic potential affect the MT1 and MT2 melatonin receptor signaling, and behavior in mouse models of canonical behaviors and circadian rhythms disruption (e.g., jet lag, delay/advance sleep, depression).
Research activities will include characterizing novel molecules with therapeutic potential targeting melatonin receptors using molecular pharmacology approaches in cell base functional screens, as well as in various in vivo behavioral and circadian models.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master s Degree in a related field such as pharmacology, toxicology, and/or neuroscience with background in the use of animals in research and knowledge of neuropharmacology, excellent publication record, and strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal skills, independence and leadership are essential traits to run complex experiments, provide guidance, and direct the work of technicians and/or students doing short rotations, and to interact with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty.
