### Summary
This position is located in the West Point Mint, Office of
Production and is responsible for a variety of processes used in the
making of circulated, uncirculated precious metal, gold, silver and
platinum, and other metals, coins and medals (domestic foreign).
Includes skills such as inspection, loading and maintenance
operations in the production of coins pressing striking, burnishing,
shipping, receiving, die control, packaging, laboring and the use of
other equipment and machines.

### Responsibilities

As a Metal Forming Machine Operator (Coin Manufacturer), you will:
- Apply specialized skills, methods, procedures, and techniques to
monitor and operate complex Grabener coin presses, sheet metal
rolling mills to press scrap metal and defective coins into
sheet metal, upsetting mills, and other production and support
machinery associated with the coin manufacturing industry.
- Monitor operation on presses, observes instrument panels,
listens for deviations in normal rhythm and sounds and takes
appropriate action to prevent mechanical failure and assures
meeting high quality standards for completed coins.
- Identify defective tooling and causes of various defects in
quality of coins and potential causes for jamming, overheating,
cracked dies collars, improper strikes, loose grippers inserts,
broken or bent pins, springs, etc.
- Responsible for performing routine troubleshooting for readily
apparent minor defects to internal mechanisms and feeder flow
obstructions and disassemble assembly of feeder mechanisms and
other external press components.

**Physical Requirements:**
Frequently handle objects weighing up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds) and
occasionally objects weighing up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds);
however, hoists, lifts, and workers are available to assist in
moving heavier items. They are required to lift, reach, push, pull,
bend, walk, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Employees
sometimes work in cramped positions over and under machinery when
troubleshooting machine issues. Must be able to work in cramped
quarters positions for sustained periods of time and must have
sufficient eyesight to do close work and endurance, hand eye
coordination is required to keep pace with the operation of machines
and controls.
You must show in your experience in the online application that you
possess the knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the duties of
