Intern with CooperVisions Americas legal department. Opportunity to work on projects involving commercial agreements, human resource issues, ethics and compliance issues, advertising and promotional issues, and other legal matters in support of the Americas commercial and operations organizations.

  • Work on projects involving corporate law, employment law, advertising law, and ethics and compliance
  • Draft agreements, policies and correspondence on commercial legal matters
  • Research legal issues relevant to commercial and operational organizations
  • Support for litigation matters, including those in state and federal courts and with administrative agencies (EEOC, Division of Human Rights)
  • Possibly collaborate with other interns that work with other departments
  • Present on one significant project to the Americas leadership team and members of the Legal Department
  • Strong legal research skills
  • Strong functional use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in drafting legal memoranda
  • Presentation skills are a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while also managing critical deadlines
  • Flexibility and ability to quickly adjust to changes in business requests and deadlines
  • Highly organized, with critical attention to details
  • Capacity to maintain the confidentiality of all company, customer, and employee information
  • Ability to work independently and/or within a collaborative team structure
  • Positive, self-motivation, high level of enthusiasm and willingness to learn and incorporate coaching and instructions into daily tasks and assignments
  • Collegial office environment

  • Telephone contact with office of General Counsel in Pleasanton, CA
  • Currently enrolled in an ABA accredited JD degree program and entering second year or third year; or a currently enrolled college junior or senior demonstrating an interest in pursuing a legal career
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0 (4.0 scale) or equivalent
  • Prior experience in an office environment or law firm is a plus
