Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent group of subject matter experts within Product Control, Finance Division. VCG is organized along business lines and clients of the group include Desk Heads, Line Product Control, Market Risk, Model Validation, Compliance, Legal Department, Middle Office, Internal Audit, external audit firms and the regulatory bodies in countries impacted by Citi's footprint. VCG collaborates closely with its client base to ensure complete understanding of business valuation issues and accurate execution of valuation policy. The role is part of the VCG team based in Buffalo, NY.
VCG's primary responsibility is to reasonably ensure that risk portfolios are fairly valued in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. VCG works with trading and quantitative groups to fully understand the impact of valuation uncertainty on the desk's pricing and any accompanying fair value adjustments. It also participates in the approval of new products.
In addition to the valuation oversight, the role will focus on regulatory reporting requirements and internal and regulatory policy compliance for valuation and reporting. This role will be a part of a team that enhances VCG regulatory oversight, in line with heightened expectations from global regulators and internal and external auditors.
This role will cover valuation control of businesses that may include securitized debt products and derivatives, and will require strong communication skills and teamwork across multiple locations and departments.
+ Perform and analyze price testingresults and fair value adjustments for covered products and businesses.
+ Responsibility for all aspects ofvaluation control of the business, including validation of market data inputs,reporting and analysis.
+ Perform Fair Value Classification,Level 3 Roll-Forward analysis, and other controls such as Multiple Price PerInstrument and Multiple Fair Value Per CUSIP review in accordance with the FairValue reporting control framework.
+ Produce and implement guidelines /procedures for valuation adjustments and price testing across the products and businesses,with particular attention to the design of control.
+ Act as a Business Partner to theBusiness, Risk, Compliance and Finance.
+ Act as the first point of escalationwith regards to any discrepancies and breaches.
+ Identify pricing issues, valuationparameters or instrument types that may require particular attention withcritical analysis of the valuation issues involved.
+ Assist in compilation of monthlyregional Price Verification reports for covered products and businesses.
+ Actively participate in monthlyIndependent Price Verification meetings with the Front Office.
+ Handle regular and ad-hoc requestsfrom global teams, regulatory reviews, e.g. Prudent Valuation Reporting.
+ Identify pricing issues that mayrequire particular attention with critical analysis of all factor risksinvolved.
+ Strong leadership and accountabilityfor covered product and business valuations.
+ Bachelor's degree in finance,economics or quantitative-related subject.
