Senior Relationship Manager Middle Market Banking (Melville, NY)

The Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Commercial Bank (GCB) is seeking a Senior Relationship Manager to join our Long Island team. GCB serves public and private companies with annual revenues of $50 million to $2 billion headquartered in New York City and Long Island.

The Senior Relationship Manager (RM) is responsible for delivering all the resources of Bank of America Merrill Lynch to clients and prospects. The RM helps clients to fund growth and operations, enhance cash flows and efficiency, raise capital and get strategic guidance, manage risk, support employees and grow and preserve personal wealth. The RM draws on experts from around the Bank to advise clients and provide solutions to grow their businesses. The RM is responsible for leading, directing and coordinating key team members in analysis and execution in the effective delivery of their solutions and services to clients and prospects. The RM must be well versed in all Bank of America products and services for proper identification of cross-selling opportunities.

This position will require keen new business development skills as the position is not expected to come with many existing clients. *Position may be filled as a Sr. Relationship Manager or a Relationship Manager, depending on experience and qualifications.

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree required: Majors in business, finance or economics preferred.
  • Ability to develop strong client relationships and act as trusted advisor.
  • Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships.
  • Proven sales skills and experience, including planning, execution and follow up of client meetings.
  • Capable of organizing, facilitating, leading team of bank associates to solve client problems.
  • Must be able to assess and analyze financial conditions of a middle market relationship and industry trends.
  • Ability to develop core credit skills for evaluation of opportunities if candidate is not credit trained. Ability to understand and interpret financial statements, especially cash flow statements. Ability to develop basic treasury knowledge and learn other key bank solutions.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Series 7, 63 (Must obtain series 7 & 63 license within 180 days of start date.)
  • Desired:

  • Existing knowledge of the market preferred.
  • Active member/participation in local community organizations preferred.
  • Highly desirable to have active networking contacts and Centers of Influence established in local markets.
